Chris Roberts comments on the NCA freezing £10 million of the Premier League’s funds, in ICLG News and Solicitors Journal

Partner Chris Roberts has provided comment in ICLG News and Solicitors Journal on the implications of the NCA securing an order to freeze £10 million held by the Premier League, as it investigates potential links between the funds and alleged third-party criminality.

Commenting on the news, Chris said: “This order shows that where gambling and digital assets meet, authorities will be particularly vigilant, no matter how high profile the company or the amount at the heart of an investigation.

“Indeed, the greater the amount of money involved, the more likely it will be that the authorities will try to use all the tools at their disposal, such as an asset freezing order, to ensure recovery in the event the underlying prosecution is successful.”
