Henna is a commercial litigation expert who advises on high value, high profile and commercially sensitive, contentious matters. Henna has experience in acting for a range of clients in the English courts for claims including breach of contract, insolvency, breach of fiduciary duty and contentious probate. She also has experience in handling disputes relating to sanctions imposed on clients pursuant to the Iran and Russian regimes in the United Kingdom, the European Union and the United States. She has handled international arbitrations both ad-hoc and under the LCIA, LMAA and SIAC Rules. Henna was recognised in the Legal 500 in 2021 and 2022.
- Acting for a commercial entity based in the UAE in a High Court claim against a London solicitor’s firm for causing the failure of a ship sale contract leading to a loss of over USD 13m.
- Acting for the UK subsidiary of an Iranian bank in a High Court claim against the UK subsidiary of a Chinese Bank for the recovery of circa €7.8m.
- Acting for a Greek UHNW individual defending a claim in the High Court for repayment of USD 8m for the sale of a vessel that was allegedly held on trust for the claimant, involving allegations of fraud relating to trust documents.
- Acting for a UK based company suing a guarantor in the High Court following the failure of a borrower to repay a substantial loan.
- Acting for a large Indian conglomerate concerning the import of a food product by a third party in packaging which breaches the client’s intellectual property rights. My work involved ensuring that the infringing goods were not permitted into the United Kingdom for distribution and we therefore had the goods held by Border Force, issued protective proceedings and sought undertakings from the infringer to prevent any further infringement.
- Acting for the former President and Prime Minister of Albania, in the first known legal challenge to the UK Secretary of State’s use of powers under immigration legislation to exclude from the UK a serving political leader.
