Ligia is a Senior Associate at Grosvenor Law specialising in dispute resolution and commercial litigation. Ligia was recognised in the Legal 500 EMEA Guide (2021) as a Recommended Lawyer, with clients commenting that “Ligia Bob is everything you want – very smart, quick and super efficient”.
Since qualifying as a UK solicitor in March 2010, Ligia has gained significant experience in handling a broad spectrum of international and domestic disputes, acting for various corporate clients including financial institutions and oil and gas companies, high net worth individuals, as well as private individuals.
Ligia regularly handles disputes relating to contractual and tortious matters, civil fraud and asset recovery, supply of goods, banking and professional negligence, contentious insolvency matters, trust and investment funds matters, shareholders and partnership agreements and protection of confidential information. Ligia also advises on matters involving warranty and indemnity claims, and has dealt with matters relating to mis-selling of financial products, regulatory investigations and compliance issues.
Ligia’s experience includes disputes at all levels from County Court to the Supreme Court and The Judicial Committee of the Privy Council as well as international arbitration.
Ligia has developed an in-depth international element to her practice, having read law and qualified as a Romanian Advocate in 2004. Ligia’s experience also includes working for nearly four years in the Gibraltar office of an international boutique litigation law firm, where she was also admitted as a Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Gibraltar.
Recent cases include:
- Acting for an insurance company (in liquidation) against its former directors for the recovery of misappropriated funds, which involved the obtaining of a freezing order.
- Acting for a UK car manufacturer in a warranty claim against a German supplier in relation to the purchase of assemblies of vehicle corners.
- Acting for a well-known businessman and former Prime Minister of Georgia, in a multi-jurisdictional dispute regarding the investment of funds belonging to a Singapore Trust. Proceedings were issued in London, Switzerland, Singapore, Bermuda and BVI.
