Nicola is a solicitor specialising in major cross-border commercial disputes and international arbitration. He has worked on cases ranging from civil fraud, litigation involving commercial contracts, technology and cryptocurrency disputes, to criminal matters such as contempt of court proceedings.
Nicola completed full-cycle law degrees in both Italy (LLB, Bachelor of Laws, and MA, Master of Laws) and England (Graduate Diploma in Law and Legal Practice Course). His multicultural background has enabled him to gain extensive experience in assisting international clients and working on cases involving complex, multi-jurisdictional issues.
Nicola’s recent cases include:
- Assisting a Seychelles company with a claim brought against sixteen defendants in the English courts to recover control over Bitcoin and other digital assets worth around £3.5 billion;
- Assisting two defendants to the multi-party proceedings brought by the Public Institution for Social Security of Kuwait with a value of approximately $900 million;
- Acting for a US private individual in a $4.5 million claim for the recovery of a cryptocurrency (Bitcoin) investment and related returns;
- Acting for a private individual and various of his companies in a high value claim for passing off in respect of digital assets against two major crypto trading exchanges (both US based);
- Advising an international financial institution on the preparation of a major committal application arising out of multi-million-pound High Court proceedings;
- Advising a Jersey company on complex prospective proceedings against an English company in liquidation—formerly the tenant of a commercial estate in London—for serious breaches of a leasehold agreement and transactions defrauding creditors under s.423 of the Insolvency Act 1986; and
- Assisting a major Asian shipbuilding group defending a multi-jurisdictional arbitration claim under s.67 Arbitration Act 1996 to set aside two partial final LMAA declaratory awards.
He is business proficient in English, Italian, and Spanish, and is currently studying French and Modern Greek.
