Managing Associate

Sam is a commercial litigator with experience working on complex, high-value disputes for large businesses and UHNW individuals. Sam trained at the London office of an international law firm with a broad array of training in commercial litigation, construction arbitration, tax, trusts and succession and as a commercial in-house lawyer for a multinational investment bank.

On qualification, Sam moved to the Kingdom of Bahrain, acting primarily for HNW individuals on complex civil fraud cases as well as for a public corporate entity in a $6bn administration of a Bahraini bank. Since moving back to the UK in 2022, Sam has worked on multi-jurisdictional litigation with civil and criminal elements, as well as asset tracing, bankruptcy petitions, acting for administrators and liquidators, settlement negotiations and on the enforcement of worldwide freezing orders.

Sam’s recent cases have included:

  • Acting for a private UHNW individual and his businesses as the claimants in a $330m multi-party fraud claim principally against the former directors of his oil brokerage business. The case involves multiple worldwide jurisdictions across the UK, Mainland Europe, the Middle East, Africa and the US. The case was brought in the High Courts and culminated in a 12-week trial in Spring – Summer 2024.
  • Defending a civil fraud claim in the value of $160m, acting for two HNW individuals, with proceedings involving companies and assets in multiple jurisdictions.
  • Acting for an international private jet brokerage in their claim against a customer in the High Courts and the negotiation of a settlement agreement.
  • Settlement and mediation negotiations for a UHNW individual in their claim against a large international investment bank.
  • Advising private individuals in unfair prejudice and wrongful termination claims.
  • Advising a US client in their potential claim for copyright infringement in the UK.
